Lip lift

A lip lift is a minimally invasive cosmetic surgical procedure that shortens the distance between the nose and upper lip. It removes a small strip of skin below the nose to lift the lip, increase the exposure of the upper teeth, and give the mouth a more youthful, voluminous, and defined appearance.

Key Features and Benefits

Youthful Appearance: Reduces the “long lip” common in aging, bringing the lip to a higher and more attractive position.

Volume without Fillers: Increases the vermilion (pink part) of the lip, giving it a natural and permanent volume, unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, which are temporary.

More Smile: Increases the exposure of the central incisors when smiling and speaking.

Quick Procedure: Usually performed in the office under local anesthesia, lasting between 30 and 60 minutes.

How it is done

The surgeon makes a discreet incision, often in the shape of a “seagull wing” (or Buffalo Horn), at the base of the nose. A small strip of skin is removed, and the muscles can be worked on to raise the lip. The stitches are removed between 7 and 10 days, and the final scar is hidden in the natural curve below the nose.

Indications

Naturally elongated or thin upper lip.

Aging of the perioral region with loss of volume and “drooping” of the lip.

Patients who want lip contouring without the “exaggerated” look of fillers.

The procedure is a great alternative or complement to lip filling, offering a longer-lasting result and greater definition of the “cupid's bow.”
